Confused about insulating loft space for storage/ minor use

I have loft space ready to utilise for storage/ occaisional use, but I am confused.
Warm roof/ Cold roof.
I thought that if you insulated the joists, then its a cold roof as demonstrated here.

Then on the same site, they insulate both the joists and the rafters.

What I would like to do is insulate both as per the last site.

Is this practical and safe from a condensation point of view?

Do you think they added ridge vents, is this advisable when insulating rafters, in order to aid ventilation from the eaves?

Its all very confusing, if anyone could clarify some of these points for me I would be most grateful, ~I have had some advice already thanks to N

I assume you mean to insulate between the rafters because the roof has no underfelt.

From what I've been told it's ok to insulate between the rafters but not box the rafters in with insulation. As far as the insulation between the ceiling joists that's ok to as long as the eaves are not blocked off as a certain flow of air is necessary. My lbungalow oft suffers no condensation and the roof has a felt underlay [1976 property] do not cover the rafters themselves as wood needs to breath. Not sure then seek further advice from your local authority building regs department.
