So we've been forced from our cars by the government by increasing taxes etc etc and telling us to us 'public transport' and now the railways are jumping on the bandwagon by planning to introduce congestion charging at peak times, because they don't have the capacity. Won't be long before the bus compaines follow suit.

Seems we're just here to be ripped off by everyone these days.

not sure how they can get away with that as it isn't the tracks congested but the trains themselves and if a train is full you just wait for the next one so it doesn't affect them apart from putting on a decent service which they should be doing anyway, if they need funding for extra carriages then this maybe would filter down into fares but for a seperate congestion charge cant see it getting passed myself?

I rember the companies have to pay a fee for each train they run, so if you can get one train jammed like sardines instead of two with seats for everyone, why of course they are full. Market forces obviously mean it is better for the train operators to always have jam full trains. One of the benefits of privatisation?
