Connaught another national company goes pop!!

D

DeltaTea

Bad news for all the employees(10,000) and I hope they can be re-employed by firms picking up the pieces.

Like many we try to compete with companies like them, when they are clearly pricing jobs far too cheaply...............When will the HAs & LAs learn that 'best value' also includes a contractor making a profit!!

Can I please point out I never named the company involved in the title of this thread. Guess a Mod has changed it??!!

Also, another national that's in trouble is a company that rhymes with sock & 'kevplum' lives under it. They look well dodgy & will not see the year out.

i reckon you won't see the day out
under this your 7th alias at least

your dyslexic mate found a map he can understand yet ?

puller

Ha/`s and La`s  I was employed by a H/a in the 80`s just as Thatcher was carving up King Arthur and buying off the Working Class vote  Witnessed first hand the BS and empire building around the " competitive tendering " crap that was just starting then . Glad to see it`s come to fruition . Paperwork - the industry that makes britain Great

Don't surprise me really, they got our local council contract last year, they were about 5-7 million less than the previous contractor

well my ha uses them and from the guys who have done work on my house they didnt have a clue on what they were doing, spending lots of money on the wrong stuff.

i had 4 brand new vans turn up to try and put up a fence in my garden the foreman was as much use as a chocolate fire guard, they loaded some spoil into 1 of the vans and drove 20 miles to dump it then came back and done it again, all there tools were brand new and not 1 of them knew how to use any of them they went to the local shed with a company credit card to buy some drill bits and chisels,in the end the foreman said he had to go to an emergancy job and they would be back the next day to finish the job,5 POSTS AND PANNELS they had been there from 8 am and now it was 1 pm and in that time they had done 2 posts and nearly 2 pannels,i said leave the labourer with his van.said i didnt need any tools as i had plenty and between us we had the job finished within the hour and the labourer bless him spent the rest of the afternoon drinking tea with me and enjoying the sunshine.

4 blokes 4 vans all with sat navs and trackers etc how on earth is this cost effective in running a bussiness efficently?

We supply trims and arcitraves to their Cannock branch. We're owed £1900 which we can clearly wave goodbye to

Bug_ger :(

Its not the end of Connaught, only Connaught Partnerships.

The following announcement has been made by Connaught:

Business as usual at Connaught Compliance and Connaught Environmental

The Board is now providing an update.

Since the end of July, Connaught has held discussions with its lenders and alternative providers of finance with the objective of securing additional funding and a restructuring of the Company's financing for the longer term.
During this period, the Board of the Company has also continued to explore its options to improve the financial position of the Connaught group of companies (the "Group") and to realise value for the benefit of all stakeholders.

These initiatives failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion in the time available and, following extensive discussions with the Group's secured lenders,it is now clear that sufficient support would not be extended to the Group as a
whole to enable it to continue trading as a going concern. As a consequence, the Board is saddened to announce that it is in the process of appointing partners from KPMG as administrators of Connaught plc and its subsidiary, Connaught Partnerships Limited, which comprises its Social Housing Division.

The Group's other main subsidiaries, Connaught Compliance Limited, National Britannia Holdings Limited, Fountains Limited and Connaught Environmental Limited (and their respective subsidiaries), which comprise the Group's
Compliance and Environmental divisions, are not being placed into administration and will continue to trade normally. An agreement with its funders is in the course of being negotiated and an announcement will be made shortly tomorrow
regarding this.

  Sussex M8  Funny enough the HA I worked for was in Sussex 1980-87 and then Thatcher decreed we weren`t cheap enough - Just me plumber and my boss chippy - covered every thing even fencing

A relation of mine who works for the local council in finance told me how these housing assocaitions work.
They would put in their tender to a local council and win it because of their rates ,they are so low nobody can compete with them.. then say for example they charged the local council for a boiler change say £400 ( as agreed) they would not make any money on this boiler change as it has been agreed the rates with the council ..but when they are onsite the also FIND other problems like pipes leaking, radiators leaking or need replacing then that £400 rises to £800 and that is where the profit comes from.
Not sure whathappened at connaught but I hope all these guys/gals get re-employed

Probably Homeserve will get the contract and the tradesmen will be passed on to them at reduced rates.
