hello folks. can anyone help me in understand how I get a Scottish power connect (climote)
wired in?

I currently have a danfloss timer that has 2 zones (heating and water) that is wired as a S plan, via a wireless room stat (that is wired via a junction box) with a ideal logic+system boiler

the obvious questions to ask are:

1. Wiring in the Connect - what changes I need to make. My current wiring is like this:

and here is the wiring layout for the connect- (that supports 3 zones)

2. what I need to do with the wireless salus thermostat, that the receiver is wired into my wiring junction box

many tks

Without a third motorised valve for the bedrooms don't connect anything to terminals 5 or 6, and use the 'Living' control for the entire central heating system.

You don't specify the model of the Danfoss, but most have N & L on the left, then terminal 3 is for hot water 'on' and terminal 4 for central heating 'on' [check your manual, or post back the model details if you are unsure]

The diagram on the base of the Connect you have posted, shows that terminals 3 and 4 are transposed when compared to the Danfoss, in that terminal 4 is for hot water 'on' and terminal 3 for central heating 'on'

The Danfoss has an internal live connection to the switching contacts, the Connect doesn't, so you will have to link the L terminal to terminals 1 and 2.

If the room temperature control can be achieved by the Connect, then the Salus receiver should be removed, the power supply to it made safe, and the switching wires connected together [Probably marked NO and COM] If one of the switching wires at the Salus is presently connected to the L supply to the Salus receiver now, that connection should be retained, but if it's not, don't connect it. If you are unsure, post back with a sketch of the wires.

hi Stem- many tks for replying back to me!

the danfoss is a Danfoss Randall FP715SI -but your right N /L is on the left and T3 is for HW (blue) and T4 is for CH (Brown)

Ref switching contacts for the connect, ok I understand this bit tks!

Ref the salus room temp wiring. this has 4 wires:
Brown- power
Earth- earth
Black -which is connected to the Brown T4 (CH) connection from the danfoss
Grey - which is connected to the motorized valve for the CH.

I guess based on your comments below- the Brown T4 cable from the connect needs to be connected to the motorized valve cable?

Something sounds a bit odd about the Salus wiring though. The model I am familiar with is the RT500RF and the terminals are:

1. Contact - Normally Open (NO)
2. Contact - Common (Com)
3. Live (L)
4. Neutral (N)

There's no earth connection required, it's double insulated, and you don't mention a neutral.....hmm.....

The wire colours don't help really, because whoever installed it would have chosen what colours to use where. From your last post it looks possible that a green / yellow wire may have been used for a purpose other than earth! Which doesn't surprise me as your first photo shows a blue wire used as a live from T3

However, if your Salus corresponds to the above, then the L & N should be disconnected / isolated safely, and the wires going to the two contact terminals connected together. So your assumption of the wire now from T4 connecting to the motorised valve sounds reasonable to me.

Hi Stem

glad to say that I've easily managed to get it fitted, from your help (many, many tks) only issue I had was that I had to fix the connect off the wall as my existing cables would not fix
with it needing to be fixed flush to the wall. tested my HW/CH, and it works as expected with on issues!

many tks again!

Hi Poshram

Thanks for taking the time to post back to let us know you got on. It's good to know you managed everything OK; although I think you had pretty much worked it out yourself; and I won't hold a grudge against you because of your team.........[in case you hadn't noticed my location. ;)]

i did notice your location...........my best bud here in Pboro (hence why I am called poshram) is a forest fan...so I only get grumpy when we play and loose .
