trip switch consumer unit, trip switches now stay on. There are fuses behind the switches, right? How can I tell if one has blown?
Just to answer this. No, trip switch (mcb type) do not have fuses behind them.

To add a little 'constructive education' for the OP ...

'Trip switches' (like the Miniature Circuit Breakers, MCBs you have) fulfill the same role as a fuse (disconnect a circuit in the event of excessive current, such as due to a 'fault') but do so 'non-destructively', in that after they have tripped they can be 're-set', using the switch lever on the front (after the reason for the excessive current has been removed).

When an excessive current causes a fuse to 'blow', the fuse is destroyed and has to be replaced (after the reason for the excessive current has been removed).

Kind Regards, John

no - you said spurred off
maybe something like this
somewhere

What was connected to the cable before
Does it get power from a light switch in the bathroom maybe
Although the seller does list it as such, that is NOT a spur, it is often used on a spur but it is wrong to call it a spur, it does cause confusion, even some electricians call it a spur. It is actually a Switch Fused Connection Unit. There are unswitched ones available too.

A spur is the type of wiring (imagine a train track and a spur on that track).

A spur is a branch from a circuit in effect (it might be from a ring or a radial).

There are a few more things that cause confusion in a similar way.
example , Live and Line, . Ring Main Circuit and Ring Final Circuit are another. There are more examples, then also the Use of abbreviations can confuse too.
