Many years back I would have used a choc box with connector strip inside for gu10 down lights , is this still the preferred way to do this, I have mini gu10 so just under 50mm holes cut out, photo showing a couple of them
Your two ceiling cables go into one side.
Otherside needs a shortish length of cable to the lamp (and you wire this up whilst standing on floor not up a stepladder).

Thanks to you both and upon checking the sizes plenty of room for fitting through a sub 50mm hole. and even better a bulk buy price so going to change the living room 12v to mini gu 10 led’s so will buy enough to do that as well.
tganks again for your help
Did you notice that you have your plasterboard upside down?
You should NOT be able to read "plaster other side only".
Skim will not adhere very well to that side.
Plasterer may refuse job.
(Also much much better to use 12mm plasterboard - 9mm can sag after a while).
(And best to use plasterboard screws as hold board better owing to their shape and do not rust and leave marks on ceiling thorugh paint. )

I will tape and fill myself and fitted that way as there was a gouge on the face of it and have studs at 400 centres which was the recommended spacing for 9mm plasterboard and have used plasterboard screws. Thanks for pointing this out to me It’s just I wanted to check that anything I was fitting was outdated as I said I would have fitted choc box with connector strip if I hadn’t ask on here first.
Thanks
