There is not a max number, but there is a max area size the ring can cover.

Also you should not exceed the maximum rating for the circuit which, although crudely I admit, equates to the maximum, recommended number of S/O on the ring!

It's another reason why I advised not to hang any U/floor heating system off the same ring main.
