Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a situation which has just come up?
The bottom line is, i did a job (I'm a self employed carpenter) about 9 months ago for a firm in Dorking. Its just been brought to my attention that one of the guys i was working with just found out that the firm had been deducting his 20%, but has not paid that 20% to hmrc.
Is there any way to check if I'm in the same boat?
Ive read on hmrc that as a sub contractor i should be issued with a payment and deduction statement. Is this a legal requirement? Ive never had any confirmation of deductions since the voucher scheme back in the day!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
