Convector radiators catch 22

So the saga continues, as the convector rads can operate on a lower boiler temperature this then means the towel rad in the bathroom is lukewarm.

Despite balancing the system and turning down some convector rads the towel rad isn't getting hot.

At 60c on the boiler the house is warm but the bathroom is cold.

How do you guys compensate this?

The rad shouldn't be any cooler than any of the others if it balanced correctly. Have you tried turning a few of the other off @ their TRV's and does it then heat up properly?

If it's a chrome towel rad though, they are not really designed to heat a space rather to warm up the towels unless they're pretty large and not chrome or the room's pretty small.

It gets hotter if I turn off other TRVs

It heats up properly when HW is on as its plumbed into get hot with CH or HW. Y plan system.

Small room, it is chrome, and is large. It used to get really hot when we had the non convector rads in the house, but they were sludged up so I guess the towel rad got most of the water

Not quite - with a Y Plan, if the system is calling both then it will heat up as the 3 port valve will be in the mid position feeding both but if it only heats up properly when in HW only mode, then it's probably connected to the primary side of the system and not the CH side by the sounds of it.

If it still warms when in CH mode only then it may be receiving some reverse circulation depending on where it's return is piped.
