Converting to a 16A cooker switch?

Actually Europe is a bit more diverse in that regard. While 16 A is a common socket size, some countries allow it to be protected by a 20 A MCB (France, Belgium) while others tend to down-size supplies in order to get by with 1.5 mm2 wiring in the walls and go for 10 A (e.g.Sweden and Finland) or - mainly Austria - 13 A MCBs. Austria is probably also the only EU country where you can find B13 and C13 MCBs in every DIY store. I'd suspect that the oven you mentioned would end up on a 16A radial with 2.5 mm2 wiring in most EU countries though, either hard-wired or with a suitable plug and socket. The Germans might scrape by with 1.5 mm2 and a B16. "We've always done it that way!"

Be aware Ragnar - sooner or later somebody will ask you what, and how, < 16A supplies are specified and provided for things like fans and gas boilers in these countries. When they do you might like to go on holiday for a bit. (y)
