Problems with a lot of air getting into system, (bleeding radiators every week) sludge, overflow leaks. No plumbers/engineers have been able to fix over many years. Thinking of converting to combi and redoing bathrooms at same time. Would all the floors need lifting in living room, bedrooms and kitchen to install the combi ? They are quite new and wood/laminate.

I think your system needs a thorough flush out, maybe removing the radiators in turn for cleaning if the sludge and gas are as bad as you say.....the two are connected!
The combi can use the same pipe work as a rule, but the pros and cons have been widely discussed on the forum.
It doesn’t matter which heating system you decide upon, if the system is dirty it will come back to haunt.
