External copper gas pipes must be protected from corrosion. If factory coated tube was not used, then the pipework should be protected in situ, e.g. with bituminous paint or suitable wrapping tape.
Also, it shouldn't be installed where it is liable to suffer mechanical damage. Next to a walkway, for example, it would be better if steel pipe was used.
