18V Lithium ion is the way to go.

DMtools have this hitachi one that looks spot damn good for the money.

I've got The Makita 18V li-ion 451 combi drill and it's awesome. much better than i expected. Plenty power and with the 3amp batteries last a decent time on the drill.
