Cordless powertools

Go for either Bosch blue or Makita, both brands will last you years for occasional use. Spares and batteries plentiful too.

I know its a little out of your budget but i have just bought a Makita on offer at the moment where you purchase their 8444d combi drill, 3x 3.0ah NI-MH batteries, charger and case and they will throw in another 8444d comi body free. £305.00 inc vat

Now i know this is out of your price range BUT im sure someone on here ( me included) would give you a few quid for the additional body and maybe 1 of the batteries.

That would leave you with the drill ( Very Very good one in my opinion) 2 batteries, case and the charger...

Here is a piccie for you.

I wonder how long it will stay looking new :)

I have a Bosch blue 12V for cabinet use. Does the job well. Only downfall is that it came with Ni-Cad's. Now seeing bosch are marketing their blue range as a pro use range, surely they would provide it with Ni-Mh...

Had a Metabo one also once. It had a pulse start to aid starting screws. Seemed ok to me. The guy who broke into my garage thought so too because he took it

there is also a similar deal with a 18v drill/driver with 3 2.6ah batts with a free combo body for about £265 (£230 for the 14.4v version)

I think Makita are trying to push the boat out, they seem to have all sorts of deals on at the moment.

More availability of lithium tools may be just around the corner, so I wonder if there will be more bargains in the near future as the old ni-cad tools are sold off cheap?

And will lithium tools ever come down to reasonable prices as more are sold?

I am led to believe that Makita will be dropping their Ni-Cad range altogether soon ( they are the red batteries) but the Ni-Mh will be staying for quite a while yet.

I had a look at the new range of makito with the info lithium batts and they are just way to expensive. I have to say all manufacturers seem to be pricing their new Lithium range beyond the reach of most people.

Nice saving on weight though and im sure once they do become more reasonable, it will be a big saving on the wrist  The weight i mean, not the fact that meantime we will be all dreaming of owning one and other things :)
