in my Landlord's gas safety record for my balanced flue baxi solo2, I have a comment "non purpose comp vents".

the installation passed the inspection and is safe to use.

can anyone interpret this jargon?

also, am i obliged to put this right before the next annual inspection (when i know what it means)?

I would imagine it means compartment vents fitted serving no purpose. This would be the case for a category C boiler, fitted into a compartment, requiring no additional ventilation. Presumably there used to be a boiler in the compartment that did require ventilation, which was properly installed at the time.

Best thing to do is phone the number on the certificate and ask the very person who issued it, better to be safe than sorry.

It just means that you have had compartment vents put in but you dont neeed them as the solo2 has a low surface temp and donbt need them..................no biggy

There's no obligation to put anything right anyway,if it's in the "Not to Current Standard" category. It just gets recorded every year. It isn't like an MOT. Yes it is daft.

so why bother putting in the record /boredom ?

'cos he's a ****? that was supposed to read tw*t, nothing stronger! and why is t*it banned?

because it should be rectified and if you dont put it down it ay bite you on the ass if its picked up next time

Good way to not get paid by a new client, that. "Last year there weren't any faults and you've put six and the letting agent will complain and you must be wrong".
Plenty of ripostes of course. I know some agents can be dumb so if necessary I just put NCS in the box on the CP12 certificate, but issue a separate form notifying defects, for the landlord to sign.

Another time a landlord wanted me to stop the checks on her 4 flats "if I was going to be like that". That time I couldn't be bothered to persuade her it was OK because I smelled that I wouldn't get paid. So I sent letters to the tenants, and the letting agent, telling them that the landlord was not prepared to let me report defects on their gas systems and wanted to pay for bogus certificates showing none. Caused her a bit of trouble, I found out later.

Excellent, however it's not allways landlords/landladys who are the problem, I fackin hate tenants treating me like I am a nuicance when trying to arrange a date to service and do certificates, if they dont get back to me after two requests I just tell the landlord and then let them chase me, of course when the heating breaks down and the tenant phones me up I tell em I will see them in a fortnight, works wonders the next year, a lot more amiable then.

having compartment vents when you dont need them hardly constitutes a fault thea needs rectifying

Sorry Kev I had moved on to why NTC stuff gets recorded year on year rather than answering the original question again.

so if I removed the cabinet with the vents in, there would be no issue to discuss?
