It was pulling to the left a bit, completely put me off, the PAS unit is electric with no serviceable
parts and about £800. Ok, it might not be that but not risking it.
Pulling to one side (gently) is usually indicative of either a tracking fault (look for tyre wear) or a sticking brake caliper - in which case the wheel will be hot to the touch.
The Corsa does suffer from unweighted power steering though - where it works fine turning in one direction but offers no assistance for the other. Like you say, a new PAS pump is needed.

That might be the case but in view of the front left collision it's been in, it wouldn't surprise me that it were possibly connected in some way. Oh well, something better will turn up soon hopefully.
