Cost of Unvented Cylinder and System Boiler Installation

£200 a day!? It's 2015, not 1990. You're in Buckinghamshire so you can expect to at least double that figure unless you want a dim-witted knuckle dragger working on your system

We can help you if you help us - as I've said, you've given no details of length of discharge run, length of flue run, how difficult your wall might be to drill, what control system you want etc etc. Extras will almost certainly be more than £500 as well

the last job i done that was of similar spec £9000 all in,

As for labour most people look to earn £600 for installing just a plain old combi let alone a zoned system boiler with unvented.

Hi Andrew,

Point noted on day rate. You're suggesting £400 a day.
The selected location is next to an external wall. We are detached, so the discharge can be on that side. It is a cavity wall so 300mm thickness. The flue can also go on this side. As I say the boiler would be literally on the side of this wall so the lengths are inconsequential I think.
I will have a Hive system installed at a later date so for now I want a regular thermostat wired into the hallway.

Hope that helps.

There are many unseen costs. Public liability 10million.pound cover for most of us. Yes we are using naked flames in wooden Lofts!!. Transport costs..van.insurance. Specialist tools ( I spend probably 2k a year just on.power tools) that's year in year out. The biggy is training costs and regulatory observation. We have to be licensed to fit your gas boiler and unvented cylinder. This costs big money. The direct cost per year of my training is probably £900/yr that has to be adsorbed into job costs. There's an.interesting article here https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&s...WRekPyLbr_A2nCEhg&sig2=mSZSdS-0jtqs_pSScsL2TA
What you should be doing is getting three firms round to quote for the work.

With respect, isn't that why you are charging £400 per day (if you agree with the earlier figure)
If we agree with the above, then the only other variable is days effort. Would you agree? It seems illogical to put a further uplift on for the overheads you have mentioned in my opinion.

I feel that I have now provided very specific information about my situation and am hoping that you pros can respond with a degree of certainty on the days effort it will entail.

Again thanks for your help

Not sure about your question Denso but to clarify, I was hoping that I've now supplied the details of my situation including clarifications where requested and this in turn should allow you to provide a pretty good indication on the effort. Hope that makes sense.

Once again, thanks for all the input.

I'm finding your responses very cryptic Denso13. I'm happy to provide additional information or clarification if it is required.

Why do you need to know from someone off t'internet how long it will take "with a degree of certainty"?

I assumed that your views will be representative of what I should expect to hear from local fitters. I was priming myself for the conversations I have with local fitters.

If you look at asadm post history it would appear that he has decided to diy relocate his boiler and cylinder into his loft. Laying 70 mtrs of copper pipe in process. This may be why tradesman are unwilling to quote to complete the job. As Dan said..I'm out. Back to the sanity of the C.C

I'm relocating boiler upstairs, next to the proposed cylinder. Yes, I'm using copper along with some PVC too. I don't understand the issue with that?

I think the big problem is you are asking for a price on something that can only be realistically provided following an on site inspection.

The internet is a great way to price up some things, but onsite work isn't one of them.

As the good chappies on here have said, at least a couple of times, get in 3 local quotes and take it from there.
