If they weren't poached by the UK and other first world nations for their healthcare systems!
Saw an interview with Jeremy Hunt (sic?), and he crowed on about how he had instigated a program to train more doctors in the UK 5 years ago. But of course it takes longer than that to train.
But when asked why this wasn't implemented earlier his reply was that there wasn't a perceived need...
What he didn't want to admit of course is that it's far cheaper to import fully trained doctors and nurses from abroad.
And that of course deprives those developing nations of much needed medical expertise.
And in addition 5 years ago automatic freedom of movement/employment from/to the EU/EEA was voted down...
