Cracked induction hob

Hi guys,

Some how my induction hob developed a crack at the top and over the top right ring, I think my kids stood on it but they won't admit to it. I have taped it up with duck tape and wondered if its still safe to use the other rings if we do not spill anything?

Okay, I know its not IDEAL but if I am careful and do not spill water on the cracked ring, should I be ok to use the other 3 rings?

Need to cook for the kids but cannot get a replacement induction hob for a week.

My unqualified personal opinion is that as a temporary situation, it is probably safe to use attended, provided you don't put anything on top of the tape (or it will get hot!).

My mother and father were using an induction hob for about two years with a huge crack across it.

Despite my insisting on them replacing it they decided to hold out until they had the kitchen replaced.
It was fine in that time though and heavily used.

But yes you do have to take care to make sure pans don't boil over for obvious reasons.

I don't think my mother ever put tape on hers, just left it. I feel like the heat from the other rings and cooking utensils could cause the tape to melt so keep an eye on it.

Of course, best option is to replace asap.

hmm, theres no way i'd be using it without tape over it. Your parents ran a bit of a risk there. I've had a pan on one ring and felt the other rings while that was on, they're very cool to touch, no problems with melting tape there.. Unless of course, you accidentally turn on the ring with the tape on it, even then, it won't turn on until a magnetic pan is on it. So you'd have to make 2 mistakes for that to happen.

Its not possible, that is only for edges. Mine goes straight over the ring, cannot use any solution to glue that, well, you can but, you still can't use it afterwards.
