Hi everyone, this is my first post in this forum..

Me and my partner laid turf in our first home about a year ago, it was fine until this heat wave, now some of it has gone brown/dormant and also large cracks have appeared all over the lawn, some I can put my hand down inside. I have been watering it 2-3 times a week for about an hour each time. I know we have clay soil so I guess the soil has dried out. :(

My question is...what do I do about the cracks, do I leave them and they will come back or do I fill them?

thanks in advance :)

That's what happens in a heatwave. Forget lush swards of green grass - look around at parks and fields. Watering at present is really only superficial and not worth the expense (assuming you're on a metered supply).

It'll settle down come autumn.

thanks for the reply, but it's not really the grass I'm worried about it's what to do about the soil cracks, do I fill them or do I leave them

I would just leave them and sort it out if needs be when we have had a decent period of rain.
