I have moved into a house with French doors in an upstairs bedroom leading to a balcony. The house is on top of the fells and we regularly have 80mph winds. The doors are creaking noisily when windy but stop when you put pressure on the top middle by pushing on them. The doors are secured by 4 bolts either side. There is minor cracking of the plaster at the top of the frame so there is obviously some flexing. Any ideas to stop the creaking/flexing?
Also, the trickle vents are flapping when very windy. Sometimes the wind is causing them to open which creates a loud whistling noise.
We bought the house from a builder who did the extension himself. It turns out he is a cowboy given the leaking roof, inadequate pointing, dodgy electrics and boiler flue finishing next to a window and extractor vent!
