Take a look at the Currys facebook page, it is nothing but negative comments, literally every single thing Currys post on their page has dozens of terrible customer experiences tagged to them, it's hilarious. Shocking company. I'm amazed they actually let customers comment.

Confirmation bias.


It is so normalised to moan, whinge, and complain.
Not so to give credit where it is due.


If you offer a genuine "thank you!" or word of praise, it is not uncommon to be looked at like you've gone out, or have two heads.
That, and the default position being to complain, probably makes negative experiences appear to make up a larger proportion of transactions than they actually do.

Last time I bought something from Currys was my laptop.
Click and collect, easy enough.
Went to pick it up and the young girl there was flapping her eyelashes to convince me I needed an external mouse, a laptop case and of course, the extended warranty.
I declined all of them and she kept going on about how things go wrong.
I stood firm and declined the offer.
So she went to pick up my laptop from the back and 15 minutes later she came back.
Threw it on the counter and left without saying a word.
I asked her colleague if I needed to sign anything to prove I had collected the laptop, he said "I don't know".
So I left and "accidentally" dropped outside the printed email confirming the click and collect.
Hopefully someone got a free laptop.
This was before mobile phones became smart.

One day an old boy came in and was browsing. 'Can I help you?' I asked. 'Yes' he said 'I'm looking for a new portable television.'

'Emmm, they're just this way sir' I replied.

He'd been looking at the microwaves :)
 
Not been in one for 20 years. Last time I was in, looking for a laptop, my first colour display one. I offered the salesman 90% of the ticket price, for a cash sale, he accepted after consulting his manager.

Many things make me smile about my mum . When I was a young boy she would embarras me so many times ⏲️. No more so than when she bartered with the butcher in Harrods for a leg of lamb. OK it was late Saturday afternoon but she got him down.
 
There's something you don't get any more - bartering is a lost art

I was trying to buy a garage door from a Facebook seller recently. It wasn't ideal, as it had no motor and was the wrong shape but I was willing to set to and re-engineer it if it was cheap enough. It had been listed at 300 quid, and needed to be removed (by buyer) urgently as the garage was being demolished on the Monday; it's Sunday morning and still for sale - I offered 200 and I would go and remove it and take it away that evening. If they'd said 250 I'd have accepted, but no - it was worth 300 all day long "because [they] paid 1600 for it two years ago"

"OK, try sell it for 300 today, but if you don't and your builder turns up ready to put a digger through it on Monday and you decide you want 200 for it, call me. Also, you haven't listed them for sale but I'll give you a hundred quid for the two veluxes I can see above it too"

"We won't. And we want 120 for the veluxes"
 
Sage bean to cup coffee ☕️ machine. As I wanted it in blue .
I love my sage coffee machine had since 2017 , (although they do break ) never knew they did Blue - mine is silver and they had black , that was it - Blue sounds like a nice colour
Wow , they have a lot of colours now, red, White, Blue 2 blacks and silver and boy have they increased in price , I paid £500 for mine , well i have had 2 , long story on faults
puchased one for daughter as wedding present 2019 , and hers broke as well , but sage did a good value repair
I got mine from lakeland as they give a 3 year warranty

When looking at online reviews it’s important to bear in mind people are motivated to leave a review when they are pizzed off. Uneventful purchases (the vast majority) result in no review.

Its especially true for stuff like energy companies, car insurance, broadband - nobody leaves a review saying “My Plusnet / Bt / Virgin just err works

It was my first attempt at barter, having read up about bartering. I still, if I think there is a chance, try a barter - the worst that can happen, is they say no and you pay the full ask.

If that's a roller door, then you both paid far too much for it. I paid around £400 for mine, new, complete, but not including installation.
 
Whenever i to go into currys i like to set all the ipad alarms to go off at the same time!!! Lol
 
I know jewellery has a large mark up on it but I once bought a pearl necklace for Mrs Mottie for our 30th wedding anniversary. It was priced at £1,400 so I thought I’d try chipping them hoping to get it down to around £1,200. I started low at £900. The sales lady said she'd have to phone the shop owner. I told her to tell him I’m paying cash and I can take it right now. I thought he'd barter a bit with me. To my surprise, he accepted - it must have been a slow week or something. I remember thinking afterwards that I would have been happier if I had started lower and been driven up to £1,000. Weird, I know.

I like to leave good reviews when it's warranted. I think we should as good for them to know that their good service is being recognised.

I also see how a bad review can be bad for business so I've changed the way I do bad reviews and give a 3 * opinion that they should recognise/improve their service/quality.
If they do then I'll edit my review with 4 or 5 *'s
