I bought a 4' Trend clamp/guide as I could never find a straight enough bit of wood! Expensive, but it works great. I've also used bits of aluminium extrusion that were used for office partition walls - I picked them up when an office was being refitted. Today, I was using an offcut of aluminium tile edging as a straight edge for cutting carpet with a Stanley knife and the long spirit level has been used in the past!
My Triton Workstation with the extension table works really well on 8'x4' sheets but it would be too expensive for a handful of radiator covers!
