Yeah you want a DAB radio without a standby mode on it. I remember sorting things out like this for my late Grandmother who had lost nearly all her sight to glaucoma (sp.)
DAB is fantastic quality, but the equipment used to control it - I find - is less simple. I have three AM/FM/LW/MW radios (analogue) . Flick on the power and you get sound, The two DABs I have take longer to switch on, and the software on one actually crashes every now and then.
I don't know if you'd be able to find a radio without a standby option (climate change and all that). I know they do radios for people with dementia and these appear very simple to use.
