DAB radio

According to the BBC coverage data - my area is only "quite likely" to receive satisfactory digital reception. However my local HIFI shop says this only really refers to portable sets and a good hifi unit with a ribbon aerial can be set up to receive with far better results.

Is this really true?

If you are in a marginal reception area you will probably need a proper DAB aerial on the roof. I live in a 200 year old stone cottage with thick walls. I have a DAB tuner connected to the Hifi and it won't pickup anything with the ribbon aerial. I don't have a proper DAB aerial but it works OK most of the time plugged into the TV aerial (I don't watch telly).

Like fido says. If you have reception problems then simply fit an outdoor aerial then coax it to the receiver.

if you are in a low signal area you will need a dab aerial fitted externally
it all depends where you are.
I install them they can range from around £75 - £150.

£75.00 for a bit of aluminium seems a little excessive!
Is this some magical digital only aluminium?
I am in the north east and considered "marginal"
Get absolutly perfect reception from my standard Halo VHF
aerial.
