I can't picture what you mean about wood blocking? In any case, my advice is insulate as thoroughly as possible. One issue with eaves is that mineral insulation in the triangle area is necessarily thinner. A way around this is to place a sheet of PIR insulation into the triangle area and then continue with mineral as the space allows. Alternatively, get hold of a few ventilator trays, which will allow you to pack the mineral a bit tighter.
