Hoping I can get some advice.

We noticed a damp patch/paint bubbling on our landing wall which is directly on the other side to our shower cubicle.
We assumed it was most likely the shower tray and had this re sealed.
I then sanded the wall and repainted but the damp issue was back within 6 months and is gradually getting worse.

Today on a closer inspection of the tiles/grout I have noticed that on the bottom run of tiles there are cracks in the horizontal grout above them. And the vertical grout is very soft/spongy, I could easily push a knife right through it. There are also a couple of hairline cracks in 2 of the lower tiles.

Would this grout issue be a likely cause of the damp issue on the landing?

Hoping I don't need to Cut through the plaster board on the landing side.

OP,
As above, the grout has failed - plus, the sealing looks vey poor.
The so called sealing strips have a limited life are are not used or needed by professionals.
The shower tray doesn't appear to have lips or a fin on the rim?

You will have to bite the bullet, and remove the bottom, say, three courses of tiles - its possible that the tiles are fixed to a failing plasterboard background. Check for a plastic membrane behind the p/b?

You will have to remove all contaminated plasterboard on the landing side - & ensure the elec box is safe or remove it to a safer position.
The skirting board must also be removed & examined for rot - does the carpet smell or feel damp?

Damp has moved the background and cracked tiles , may need a refit .Poor choice of tile for shower , the more grout lines the more likely to leak and fail .

Thank you all for the helpful replies.
The tiles were installed prob 10-15 years ago long before we bought the house so it's hard to know what's behind them without removing them.

Think rather than me trying to patch up the failing grout we will have to bite the bullet and have a professional remove and replace the tiles. Fixing any issure with the substrate if needed.
