Hi

Not sure If I'm allowed to ask this, but having an issue with damp in our kitchen following an new fitting.

We've been told we need outside re-rendered as blockwork at bottom is exposed and also recommended a drainage system at the base (currently chippings and a poorly fitted pipe into drain from kitchen).

The kitchen company have put us on to a partner builder to do this work and they will fix the interior. We've been quoted £2,000 for
Remove existing render – to window height
Prepare exposed brickwork, Apply 2 Coat Monocouche system, Form plinth and drip bead
Install ACO Drainage system in level with existing patio – tap into waste line
Apply cement filler between patio and ACO drainage

It is about a 5 meter run - does this seem reasonable - we are struggling to get anyoen else to quote and would rather use someone connected to kitchen company in case of future issues. So trying to figure out if this price is reasonable.

TheOrk, good evening.

What is the issue which has given rise to this additional work? is it a leaking drain pipe? you mention a "poorly fitted pipe?"

Ken

how come you have had a kitchen fitted in a damp room?
if the kitchen fitters were any good they should have spotted the damp.
fitting new units doesn't bring on damp.

£2000 for outside work - what about the damp actually inside the kitchen, how's that going to be fixed?

why not post pics of outside and inside?

The kitchen company are making good the interior once the outside is sorted and yes, they should have spotted it.

Pipe is at floor level and isn't causing the damp, but part of the quote as it isn't flowing into the drain below the wall that needs sorting. Wall is partly rendered, but render is missing at base which is where damp seems to be coming in. Can't get photos at the moment as I'm laid up after an op.

Don’t know if anyone could offer advice on this. We had exterior work done and cause was a badly fitted pipe running to drain. Exterior is now not letting in any water as have proper drainage/re-rendered .

Kitchen company Builders have been to replace damaged plaster internally and think there may be rising damp from floor as well as water externally. They are being funny and will only replaster and take no responsibility if it comes back and don’t appear to have a suggestion if damp Ian coming up from the floor.

Walls pictured are dry but plaster behind skirting lower is feeling a bit damp but could have not dried out?

What would the fix be here?
