Hi all,

For the past year we have had parts of dead bugs (ie spiderlegs, bits of wings, shells) and odd debris coming out of our hot water tap only in the bath.

We have a classic boiler (not combi) so we have a large old hot water tank/cylinder in the airing cupboard in the bathroom and a tiny cold water tank in the loft. We have the hot water on once a day for 1h30 but the pressure is super low and the amount we heat up doesn't fill up a whole bath with hot water.

We have had the hot cylinder flushed and cleaned 2 months ago by a plumber and it seemed to do the job for about a month but recently been getting the same issues again. The hot tank was disgusting before and much cleaner afterwards (plumber showed us pictures).

We have been told that our cold tank in loft doesn't feed the hot water tank and it only feeds the radiators. The cold tank in the loft is very dirty but as said we've been told it doesn't make a difference.

I am unsure as to why this is happening so quickly again and wanted to know if anyone had ideas.

It is definitely only the hot bath tap and nowhere else, cold taps are fine.

Thank you.

Yes looks like it. It's ancient and avocado green colour.
For context when we moved in last year our boiler was 40 years old, immediately got a new one.

Yes it's a fortic cylinder. I'll get some pics asap, thank you. The cold tank in the loft is filthy and lidless, but as I've said in my post we were told this was nothing to do with the hot water as it doesn't feed the hot water.

If it feeds the heating system, surely that should have been cleaned out and had a lid fitted when you had a new boiler last year?

Both the heating header cistern and the Fortic tank need to be cleaned......have you a wet vac?
Keep both lids tightly in place!
