Never heard of a cat doing its business on a lawn as they usually scratch a patch of earth and bury it, but if cats are a problem you could always get a motion-sensor lawn sprinkler to deter them...or plant something like rosemary which has an odour they don't like.

The point in this thread is not about cats or their nature and habits. It was about many cat repellent devices for sale online we have tried for so many years have not worked at all.

They were all waste of money. Like humans cats are all different, and some cats will be taking notice on the repellent device and some will not care, and still come and do their business. So the device for sale didn't help at all, and we lost lots and lots of money from trying them out with hope for their effectiveness as advertised, and fitting for the purpose.

Also another point is that we read that cat mess in the gardens and grass is also serious health hazard to general public especially for young children.

I agree. We have two cats (and have had two more before them). None have ever pooed on the lawn.
One of them usually uses a specific 'toilet' where, due to regular digging (and subsequent filling in) is now empty of plants. The other goes somewhere unknown to us, but hopefully not in a neighbour's garden, and certainly not on the lawn.

Of course, they are both particularly well brought-up cats!

I have an idea they like the shelter of a Bush or fence, and prefer loose soil.

Long unkempt grass might give them the feeling of shelter.

Dogs don't care.
