Defunct Motorcycle Industry

That's not bad value for the RE either at around £4k. If you want a genuine DBD34 Goldie you can expect to pay twice that. Nice though.

Surprised there mate, didn't they have the ignition cut out button on the handlebars ? ...Used to use that to kill revs when fast gear-changing .. button in, clutch -(sometimes) , gear select, button off ... throttle still wide open, get it right and only the slightest blip betrayed a gearchange.
Unfortunately not, to be honest i don't think it was street legal either but an exhilarating ride worth the gamble of getting nicked. :)

Began to really appreciate the beauty of the oldy 'clubmans' in the later 70's, in the 60's I couldn't understand why the two stroke wasn't developed more, I could sense the potential .... Then, when it was, it nearly destroyed racing ... I remember the jokes - "Learn to grab the clutch by catching flies " Seized engines being inevitable .. no fun on a bend !!
I know a family with good racing pedigree, who have a 500 Manx Norton on display, in large lounge .. No smell, but there is just a hint of Castrol R (nearly as good as s-x !!) if you get real close ...
Must be worth a fortune !!

One of our Villiers 250cc twins a Norman B4 sports circa 1960.
We were right on the cusp here ... styling, superb little 'stroker' engine and gearbox unit, already many years old .. crying out for developement. Of course, we fell on the wrong side of the fence, Japan grabbed the baton and they are still running with it !! Long may they continue to give the customer what he wants.

Sat Night.
Hectic day at NEC Bike show ... great bikes and bitz !! How in hell did the pneumatic young ladies and 'pole dancing' get involved ? ... I mean, having just contemplated some gorgeous bikes, I am confronted by slightly overweight brunette showing off her 'Brazillian' whilst juicing her way up and down a chrome pole !! Time for a £4 baguette and £1-10 cuppa
Where did we park ? phew, after paying £6 to park £14 entrance fee .... Who cares ?

P

I went Friday and the bike of the show for me was the new Triumph Speedtriple with 128bhp. I just have to have one. I thought the pole dancing was ok but there was one overweight girl there. You should have waited for this one. My camera flash wasn't good enough to get all the detail.

I was mesmerised ... bikes were good too !!
I liked the old Mike Hailwood Ducati No. 12 ... I think it was the real thing, twas well bolted down.
How about the oldies ? A road going MV Augusta 4 to die for !!!!
Yep ! I missed this one !! .... Took thirty years off me for a while, then replaced with forty !! ;)

Just used 'Microsoft Photo Editor' ... the 'Image' menu, 'Balance' then play with 'Brightness', 'Contrast' and 'Gamma' raise the latter first, then add some brightness then up the contrast to sharpen up .. looks good !! The old flash was ok after all ... better than 'burning' out, if there is detail we can retrieve it !! Woo Hoo !!

I'm impressed pip, I've got a lot to learn. I haven't had the camera long but the problem I found was shutter delay, so when she slid down the pole I missed her.
(I didn't take any pics of bikes )

I suppose that delay was due to pumping up the flash power.. best to give the half press of 'button' quite early .... Forgot my camera altogether !!
Some expensive kit at the show - the tiny bikes at £300 or so looked best value for money !! and a lot of fun for kids !!

Pip can't say i'm impressed with the photo editing, the cossies still there  only joking!
