Demolition Hammer?

thats the difference. If youre not doing much with them, then i can see the logic, we use ours virtually every day, so it needs to last.

Mind you i think some of you need to look at your hire prices. People we use offered us one on long term hire for 50 a month

If the branded machines are so much better - why don't they have a 5 year warranty? If the cheapo's are so bad - how can they afford to give them a longer warranty than the branded product? Would you if you made tools?
Because the cheap ones are produced in China by the thousands complete with a whole industry of re-use by cannibalisation.

You stick with your cheap tat Joey, us pros know what is best for us.

Then why don't the big names back their products with big guarantees?

Why do stockists stock cheap tat if it keeps breaking down? Wouldn't be good for business now would it?

It's just plain snobbery.

Ferraris break down more often than Skodas.

They do:

Hilti: Lifetime
Bosch: 3 Years
Festo: 3 Years
Metabo: 3 Years

Long warranties are no more than a marketing gimmick - 90% of breakdowns, due to genuine manufacturing defects, occur within the first couple of weeks of use. Manufacturers will sometimes still repair machines after 6 / 9 months, but this is usually as a goodwill gesture, or because they can't prove that a machine has been mis-used

Most don't - it's mainly mail order companies that offer the no-names to try to stop people like you going to B&Q because you want an 18v combi for £40. Very few "proper" power tool retailers would go within 100 miles of selling Erbaur and the likes.

If everyone had the same attitude as you we'd all still be driving around in Morris Marinas and our houses would be made of MDF. Some people actually pride themselves on using good products and doing a good job. If you turned up to fit my kitchen / bathroom etc and produced a van full of no-name power tools you wouldn't make it as far as the front door as I'd think if you were skimping on the tools you use to make your living, then what else would you skimp on?

R5TT, ignore joe-90 hes a poor quality poster and his warranty ran out years ago, never been able to get him fixed since!

More fool you then.

I bought an 1100 watt drill from Lidl about 5 years ago. I use it to mix plaster - still going strong. Like I said - more fool you.

Oh and if it gets nicked - I won't cry about it.

Use one of your machines Joey until it runs really (temperature) hot. Then continue using it for the eight hour whole day.

Now do this everyday for a month.......or at least try.

Dream on Rigsby, you don't know the first thing about professional building.

You stick to your Aldi, Makro, Costco tat. Scrapyards are full of em.

I do it for a living mate but I don't go around showing up with flash equipment - in fact I buy renovate and resell for a living. What do you do apart from talk the talk?

Remind me when we last met eh? You are the ex copper pensioned off with a bad back that lays slabs for a living.

Wow - you're a really charming little man aren't you. Can't think why very few people seem to have any time for you...

I don't like new and expensive gear because it gets nicked when I leave it overnight. Each to his own eh?

That is the poorest excuse for being a miser that i ever heard.

Joey, this topic is about breakers. I worked for a Bison concrete products installer and they use breakers like you have never seen. There are occasions where the machine is running constantly for weeks. The concrete they have to break is very strong

They only use (110v electric) Hilti.

You will find few professionals using tat because they are ....tat.

My Milwaukee suits me fine. I did not buy it because it was expensive, i bought it because the hire shop said it is a well built product.

I would not encourage anyone to but cheap tat when it comes to a demo' hammer.

Maybe i would say ok to an infrequently used dremmil type thingy, or a sander, or a little bench grinder maybe, but not serious tools.

P.S. All the Bosch blue tools i have ever bought have been brilliant.
