DENTISTS CHARGES

..........don't post in this section much

30 years ago I worked for the Health service and earned the same as a an NHS dentist approx. 6,500 a year.........

they then freaked at their contract conditions and went "private"

within 2 years it was a standing joke within the NHS that they drove a new porshe within a year of qualifying

end of input!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember around that time a two year qualified dentist was paying more tax in a year than a two year qualified doctor was earning gross. And that was with your house-boy working a one in three (though those extra 40 hours a week on call payed a fraction of regular hourly rate back then of course)

Hard to find a NHS dentists in lots of areas--and when /if you do-- what they have to offer is very basic indeed.
NHS dentists just relieve pain and do the cheapest treatment- despite what the end result looks like .
For people who have lost teeth - NHS will 'fill the gap' as simple and cheap as possible.
Private dentists --really are a joke (especially my dentist) . £40 for a check up another £40 for a clean. £350 for a crown, £120-150 for a white filling .
Even charged me £35 to pop a crown back in-- after it fell out after 12 months .Took him 5 mins .

NHS dentists do everything that private dentists do....crowns, white fillings etc. They dont just relieve pain at all!

Try getting a crown on NHS-- and see how much it costs .[/quote]

Band 3 course of treatment – £214.00
This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures and bridges.

I agree that dentist's charges are horrendous BUT, one thing I wouldn't like is looking inside people's mouths all day long - well, not unless it was Anna Torv's mouth.

I reckon it would be much worse to be a gynaecologist, looking in......

Again, it depends...

I know they say that you don't look at the 'mantelpiece' when you are poking the 'fire', but how closely does anyone look at the 'fire'? Certainly, you don't stare right into it, do you?

I hate shopping in Tesco's but I enjoy the journey
