Descaling a shower head?

I bought some descaling liquid from plumbing shop. Is it pretty acidic, dangerous stuff?

I live in a hard water area and the showerhead seems to fire water out the side and some holes are blocked. I assume it's the hardwater.

So do i just leave shower head in a bucket of liquid for a few hrs then with gloves rinse thoroughly?

I would have thought that is how you would use it but you need to follow the manufacturers instructions.

Buy a new shower head, they are so cheap now and sold everywhere.

As Andy mentioned,change it they are not expensive.

Buy a new shower head with "rub clean faceplate" they have rubberish nozzles and brief rub breaks down scale.

You will find the named products [not sure what that means ] are produced in china.

Soak the head in cider vinegar. Very cheap and quite safe, other vinegars work but cider vinegar seems to work fastest.

Buy 5 L white vinegar around £4.89 (google), in this instance for cleaning purposes only, boil a litre or so in the electric kettle - leave for 20 mins - kettle should be sparkly clean. Reboil, pour hot liquid into measuring jug (or similar) drop the shower head into the hot vinegar, leave for maybe an hour, rinse through - like new !
Filter the cooled vinegar back into container - reuse at will.
