Are they the cordless models, though? I know they are the type of collet which is compatible with the old Elu MOF96 series. Do the trim routers use a different collet more akin to the old DW670 laminate trimmer?

i think the prefix seems to be very relevant more than the suffix but i wont suggest unless an exact match though numerical snap or personal use confirming it works
also j&k whilst the collet looks similar to the amazon one the nut only has around a 20mm round nut with just 2 flats[17mm spanner] and a say 2mm continuation off the round below the flat to stop the spanner falling off
and yes it looks like your right under the 1/4 collet [part21] it says "Dewalt 1/4" - 6.35mm Collet & Nut Assembly for Dewalt / Elu Routers"
Router model according to the order acknowledgment is a Dewalt DCW604NT-XJ 18V XR Brushless ¼'' Router. I will check the model on the unit tomorrow when I have it to check it matches.

as i say basic body is 600 add a plunge base its another number add a single handed base another number add both bases its another number the "N" means naked [no batteries ] the xj probably means a full kit off rods guids etc
View attachment 263229View attachment 263230 I got myself a dewalt cordless router. It uses a 1/4 shank. I just got myself a few bits and went to use it but am stuck and can't work out how to resolve it which is driving me mad.
I can't get the router to clamp the shift. The sleeve you insert the bit into seems to lose but its new so expected it to just squeeze down as I did up the collar. It does grip as I tighten the collar. It's like it is missing something within the router shift that would comprese the sleeve rou d the bit.
Take or send it back. It is not 'Fit for Purpose'. If you bought online/mail order you may be able to negotiate with the supplier for the correct 1/4inch collet. Because of the loads on and speed of cutters/bits I'd not ever want to use a 3rd party collet in a router.
If you cannot get satisfaction that route ask for your money back and buy from a local dealer.
I will contact them now. The only issue i have is that i purchased it just before Christmas for a job that got postponed to now. Lets see what they say.
Just to close this one out I contacted the online retailer that i purchased the router from. They were very helpful and said that it is not the first time they have experienced the problem. They could not send me out the replacement collett due to H&S liability which is fair enough but gave me a full refund for the unit.
Given that this was purchased 5 months ago i thought this was a very well handled response from the retailer which is nice to see.
I will now pop down to the local Dewalt toolshop and pick one up and make sure it has the correct fitting on it. They are more readily available now than they were last year.
