my builders found an old bottle when digging my extension foundations, was from Macphersons in Chelmsford that became Britvic.

What surprised me the most was how little information is available on the web about the company - so much info is still locked away in library archives.

I’ve dug up a few tiny little medicine bottles over my allotment. They say it used to be a Victorian rubbish tip. I’m sure I’ve still got them in my shed. I’ll post a few pictures up next time I’m over there.
 
Nothing beats digging up live WW2 ammunition as a 14 year old...it's though the local Homeguard chucked any left over ammo in the practice fields pond.
Wind forward 30 odd years and the pond had receded sufficient that the metal detector could find them. The cordite still fizzed though.
