Evening all,

In my living room I have two lighting circuits.

Circuit one has 12 x Megaman 6W LEDs
Circuit two has 6 x Megaman 6W LEDs

The dimmer is use to control them is made by Lutron, and here are the specs,

Rania® IR dual remote control digital dimmer

Electronic low voltage, magnetic low voltage, incandescent, mains voltage halogen, multi-way (WxHxD) 86.1 x 86.1 x 22.5mm

  • Tap on to favourite level; tap off
  • Tap twice for full on
  • Press, hold and release for gradual fade-to-off
  • Press up/down button to adjust light level
  • 2 x 50-250 W/VA
  • Requires use of square UK style backbox with a
depth of a least 35mm*

Can this dimmer support the number of LEDS on circuit 1?

You don't say what the model number is but I'm not sure this dimmer is suitable for led loads.
Give Lutron customer service a ring.

These guys say the Rania is compatible with LEDs but you may need to install the Danlers Resloade. Personally I think this is nuts, the idea of LED lighting is to reduce the operating current (=££££). The Resloade is basically an additional 10VA load to make the dimmer work properly.

Certainly you will need to do something with the second circuit as your dimmer needs at least 50VA to start working and you only have a 36VA load.

2 x 50-250 W/VA
means a minimum load of 50 watts

6 X 12 = 72 72 is between 50 and 250 so it will support those LEDs

6 X 6 = 36 36 is less tha 50 so the driver may not operate with those LEDs as the load is less than the minimum.

That is assuming it is compatible with LED lamps since
Electronic low voltage, magnetic low voltage, incandescent, mains voltage halogen, multi-way (WxHxD) 86.1 x 86.1 x 22.5mm
does not mention LEDs
