DIY cable management of consumer unit

Interestingly the "Certificate of Compliance" that is issued as part of the notification does not refer specifically to Part P.
It says "Complies with Parts 4 and 7 of the Building regulations

IIRC, Part 4 says the work complies with the applicable requirements of the Building Regulations and Part 7 refers to materials and workmanship.

So that encompasses that whole enchilada of regulations. For electrics that could be Part B-Fire Safety; C-Moisture; F-Ventilation;
L-Conservation of Energy; M-Access; oh yes and Part P.

It doesn't, but is there any reason why it should? As you know, the Building Regs has many 'Parts', and that this is a generic certificate, presumably used in relation to work which comes under any Part, isn't it? (but see the confusion below!)

It does, but I don't really understand ....
IIRC, Part 4 says the work complies with the applicable requirements of the Building Regulations ....
What it actually says (in toto, in the latest revised version) is:

Supervision of building work otherwise than by local authorities

19.—(1) Regulations 12 (giving of a building notice or deposit of plans), 16 (notice of commencement and completion of certain stages of work), 17 (completion certificates), F1[F217A (Certificate for building occupied before work is completed)] 20 (provisions applicable to self-certification schemes), 27 (CO2 emission rate calculations), [F327A (fabric energy efficiency rate calculations), 27C (target primary energy rate calculations for new buildings),] F4F5... 37 (wholesome water consumption calculation), 41 (sound insulation testing), 42 (mechanical ventilation air flow rate testing), 43 (pressure testing), 44 (commissioning) [F6, 45 (testing of building work) and 46 (sampling of material)] shall not apply in respect of any work specified in an initial notice, an amendment notice or a public body's notice, which is in force.

[F7(2) Regulations 45 and 46 shall not apply in respect of any work in relation to which a final certificate or a public body's final certificate has been accepted by the local authority.]
... which I don't really understand, particularly in relation to this certificate. But,as for ...
and Part 7 refers to materials and workmanship.
... that appears to relate specifically to "Water efficiency of new dwellings " (Reg 36) and "Wholesome water consumption calculation" (Reg 37) ;)

I therefore struggle to understand what is meant by "Compliance with Parts 4 & 7" in relation to the electrical work specified in that corticate!

Kind Regards, John
