diy wired alarm...is there an obvious choice?

Great thread and impressive pics of install. It has convinced me which system to install in our house. There was a veritas8 in before but cable has all been removed so need a replacement.

I have seen a basic texecom24 kit for about £240 which should give us all we really need to start. My wife would like a wireless key fob. (we had one on our old house). I have seen the fobs on the texecom web site, am I right in thinking I would just need one of these and a IXP-w wireless extender, which may also allow a wireless sensor in the remote garage or it it more complex than that?

Hi virgilns, I'd pass those beers onto pcaouolte...massive help to me.

Can I just jump on your thread and confirm your Pryonix sounder wiring (specifically the tamper connections)?

Mine turned up yesterday, but I haven't had chance to look at it yet. I assume you connect wires to the same contacts as the exterior bellbox

12v+ to Texecom A
12v- to Texecom D
BA to Texecom B
SPK to L/S - (aside from the L/S, which as pcaouolte has pointed out, enters the -Spk contact next to the Aux contacts) - internal sounder I presume?

I'm a little unsure over the tamper connections here though?? Perhaps I can't see the wood for the trees, but I'm stuck as to how I utilise the tampers and/or where they connect to in the panel?

Many thanks.

Yes, you connect the wires the the same contacts as the exterior bell box and also the L/S connection which, as you say, is for the internal sounder.

Tamper connections from the Pyronix go to the Aux/Fault connections on the panel, take out the loop of wire that you currently have in these connections.

Make mine a Cider. :D

Cider it is!
Many thanks - makes complete sense that - I'll fit it up in the week.

Cheers.

Certainly didn't mean to undervalue the help we've had on here from a certian mr pcaouolte...if he mails me his contact details I'd seriously send round a few ciders!

Help on here is invaluable... :D

No need. I've enjoyed trying to help. I've been helped by people on various forums in the past its nice to be able to give something back. :D
