Do I need planning permission to remove a chimney?

It's a rear chimney, not visible from the front. It's got the breast removed on one floor so cannot be used, plus is causing major damp as it's porous. Best thing is to remove it but do I need planning?

Thx

Highly unlikely you will need planning permission, unless the building is listed or in a conservation area.

Hotrod is correct. But bear in mind that having removed the chimney you will need planning permission to reinstate it at a later date.

You may however require Building Regulations if it forms or formed part of the support to the floor(s).
