Hiya, thank you for reading this.
I have a light switch in the cupboard under the stairs of our house.
It is a 3-gang switch.
The nearest gang turned the kitchen light on and off (now disconnected).
The middle gang turns the outside light on and off.
The far gang turns the light in the cupboard on and off.
I have disconnected the kitchen light switch cable and taken it out because I want the switch in the living room.
But I am now left with a question about the switch in the cupboard under the stairs:
The earth wire for the kitchen light was connected to the earth wire of one of the other cables in the switch by a push fit type connector and I'm not sure if I should now keep the disconnected earth separate by putting a push fit on it or if I should get a wago with three terminals and add the earth to the other two that are currently in a wago- please can someone tell me what to do? My guess, based on some information kindly provided by folks on here in another thread, is that I should connect all three earths in a wago, but I'm not sure.
I've attached photos.
This information may also be relevant? There are three remaining cables in the switch:
Cable # 1
This is the earth in question.
The switch live is connected to the L2 of the far gang (which turns the cupboard light on and off).
The brown line wire is connected to the L1 of the far gang.
Cable #2
The earth is connected via a wago to the earth of Wire #3.
The brown line wire goes to the L2 of the middle gang.
The switch live connects to the switch live of Wire #3 via a wago.
Cable #3
As stated, the earth connects to the earth of Wire #2
The neutral connects to the neutral of Wire #2 via a wago.
The line wire is connected to the L1 of the middle gang.
Cable #1 connects to a junction box.
Cable #2 connects to the same junction box.
Cable #3 goes either to the kitchen light or the outside light - I can't tell which.
The junction box has 5 cables.
One of them is Cable #1.
One of them is Cable #2.
One connects to the light fitting in the cupboard.
One connects either to the outside light or to the consumer unit.
The last one connects to the living room light.
I hope that's enough information for someone to help me and not way too much info.
