Hi experts, back story is that my builder refuses to drill my blinds into the top or sides of the window recess, as he thinks that there will be a lintel at the top, meaning that he will go through too many drill bits, and the sides won't hold, as likely made of concrete. Now, originally I took him at face value but after several things that he has not came back to do, including resizing doors after carpets were fitted (meaning that I had to pay another £150 to have these done by someone else), I am questioning if it was / is just an excuse and wanted some advice.
No obvious lintel outside or inside (no steel showing, soldiers etc.) so wondering what other signs might be and what the options are. I'm planning to do these myself now, but would like to know the best way to do them without failing spectacularly. We cannot use the frame at the sides and on the window because the made to measure blinds would all need recutting, so they need to go directly into the recess outside of the frame and cannot be nailed to the back of the window for stability. Top or sides, it is, with no back support if the side route is taken.
The building is post-war 1950s ex-LA. Inside / outside photos attached.
Cheers!
