Do you have to let HMRC know if you're earning money from a different type of work?

I am a self employed decorator. At one point I used to sell supplements for dogs. My accountant used to list both as my work description when filing my tax returns. To be honest, I don't think HMRC cared but it explained why I was booking £80k over the internet.
