Does my consumer unit have an RCD?

Is an electric cooker safe if not RCD protected?
Generally indoor equipment that is rarely moved and permanently wired in is considered pretty low down on the risk scale. Even under current BS7671 such equipment doesn't need a RCD per-se (though the cable feeding it will often be installed in a way that does require RCD protection).

I thought that they were considered pretty much like electric showers - potentially lethal without an RCD.
Showers are thought of as presenting a higher risk that most appliances beause their users are typically wet and naked. Still the RCD is the third line of defense against electric shock.
