Hard on the heels of the errant daughter kicking the latest chav oxygen thief to clank bones with her, I've since found out that said chav put a camera in my grandson's room, so that "the monsters would be watching him and get him if he was doing anything naughty". The poor kid was absolutely petrified - and still is. Now, aside from the mental abuse aspect of this, one thing that no one, including my daughter, knows is where or what this thing was rigged up to and I have my real suspicions as to the possibility of some paedo aspect to this.

Am I being paranoid, and if not, would the police do anything if I reported my suspicions to them?

I'm surprised you haven't tracked him down and beat the crap out of him. That's sick.

Im so sorely tempted, believe me - just don't fancy getting drummed out of IStructE for professional misconduct though...

You mean you haven't informed them yet? Get onto it, they will have to investigate, and even if it's not as you suspect, they could find evidence of some other wrongdoing that could put this c-nut away for a while.

But if they find or have found evidence of him putting a real camera in the room, that surely warrants an arrest in itself?

I have to admit to being a bit shell-shocked atm: I only found out about this last night. It would be worth it just to furk him about and I'm sure that other things would come to light as well, seeing as he's a druggie an all...

He sounds like a right sh1te hawk, get in there er shy talks. Although, on the other hand, unless you seriously suspect the **** it may be better to just feel relieved that your daughter's given him the elbow and let it go.

And let him freely move on to someone else...

Are you sure it was connected?
I'm not sure. I never went round while the O2 thief was there, out of protest (we've had similar chavs and pikies in her life before, unf). Had I known exactly what the turd was up to though, I would have nailed his knob to the nearest railway sleeper. My ex and daughter are unable to say with any certainty, but there were wires on it, by all accounts.

If the camera has been removed it will be very difficult for the police to obtain any hard evidence. Sadly, I'm afraid your chance to (metaphorically) nail the little sh*t has gone. :( :( :(

On the other hand, you should still report it. He might be well known to the police already! They might even be investigating similar offences, in which case your evidence would be useful.

He is known to plod as he's done time, apparently. Oh what a surprise. Think my daughter sees herself as a ganstaz moll. Or something.

Time to formulate a plan, methinks...

Don't want to worry you, but I know you are a bright bloke and have probably started thinking as I have that druggie/chavs need money. There is money in child porn, cameras are used to record child porn, young children often see sex with adults as 'monsters'. Is he afraid of what happened in front of the camera? I'd talk to the local GP if I were you. They may decide to call in a child psychologist to see if anything untoward happened. Hopefully it didn't, but it's far more common than most of us are aware. Hope I'm wrong.

Shytalkz - Thinks this one through. If you formally report your suspicions to Old Bill they have no option but to undertake an investigation. This will almost certainly entail consideration of a search warrant under Child Protection legislation.

If said warrant is executed and nothing is found then he is pre-warned of any suspicion by others and will be more difficult to catch out later. It is possible to swear out a warrant and hold it back for 31 days before execution to enable you to determine the camera's presence.

I would informally chat to your local Child Protection Team, be open with them and explain that you are willing to assist in gaining the necessary evidence to bang the little Siht up. If they have anything about them then they can use the Misuse of Drugs Act to cover the real reasons for searches and Police Attention.

As a matter of course they will liaise with the local Council Child Protection Team and get the child flagged as 'At Risk'. The first step to saving him from mental and physical abuse.
