Was wondering how I could rebate them. Am understanding fully now, thanks.

No, the architraves are very skinny, to match the rest of the doorways on the landing, 7 in total....

Suppose I could fit a non-matching (wider) arch? Pencil, perhaps?

For rebating things like this I use a good old fashioned hand powered rebate plane like this but minus the fences-
