Dormer roof verge - are tiles wrong way round?

Hi,
Just had the verge of the dormer roof done at the front of the house and I think some of the tiles have been installed the wrong way round (see picture) with holes visible. I think the guy was using some reclaimed tiles and the other edge was dirty. This is irritating as it is at the front of the house. Am I being fussy?

Shouldn't the tiles be sitting bedded onto on a backer board of some kind or was it like for like replacement

it was a like for like replacement. Looking at old dormer, there were a couple of similar tiles with holes showing, they just weren't as visible due to aging.

OP,
You have a neat looking job with very clean pointing.
Backer board is never used as an undercloak - fibre cement undercloaks are often used but slate or tile was the traditional way.

It could be annoying but if the job is good overall, maybe something to get used to. I've seen roof tiles used as an external cill on windows with the nibs at the front pointing down, they got treated as part of its character
