Hi everyone

I'm currently completely stripping off through lounge down to the brick and also pulled down the old ceiling as it was all in poor condition.

I've already started dot and dabbing on the other side of the room and I'm yet to get to this conundrum.

How would you dot and dab around this concrete plinth, which as you can see supports some of the brickwork externally. It sticks out around 20 millimeters already and as you can see on the photograph it continues around the new french windows that were installed.

Don't really like the idea of laying down really thick dot and dabs, but is this the only solution?

My only thought is to dot and dab around it and then possibly fill gap left with browning then skim all to a smooth finish?

Many thanks in advance.

Disc cutter. Lots of slots then chisel off.
You need to escalate your effort. Ha.

Disc cutter is cheap enough.

Good shout! Didn't think of using a disc cutter. Just not looking forward to the dust!

I'll update on here with the results.

Cheers Wayners.

You inside?

Make a dust extractor thing

if you got help a long bit of 32mm waste pipe and get someone to hold it from a safe distance while it's connected to vacuum for dust. Bit hit or miss

It spans the cavity, right? It’s going to create a cold spot; you could end up with dark staining on the plasterboard. I’m not sure what you can do about that. Definitely avoid dabs on or right next to that concrete; maybe you can slip in a bit of insulation?
