downlighter questions?

Normal junction boxes comply with both those regulations.

Seems like the manufacturers are using clever marketing so people who don't understand BS7671 will go out and by there product.

Thank you for your replys, i have read basic electricity D.I.Y book, i can see how a switch works now, and have wired it up as per the book.

The switch and lights are now working.

yes true RF ,sorry i didnt explain it properly ,the use of J501 in down lighters is crucial especialy if your going to remove them, as they have cord grips the cables are far more secure,and as some of these down lighters have lamp retaining rings that are so small the only way to get the lamp out is by removing the fitting. :LOL:
