Downpowering my alarm

Again sorry for the resurrection and slight hijack

Hi all it's my first post so be gentle with me ;)
Hope you guys don't mind me re-opening this thread but its the closest to the problem i'm having and you all seem very knowledgeable, so I hope you will help.
I bought & moved into my new house in March, which had an ADT Galaxy 2 system already installed, as I'm a first time buyer and being stretched to the limit already I declined taking the ADT contract, but want to at least have some form of protection. I want to fit an external sounder etc. but I'm getting the "Manager Reset Needed" have tried the default codes etc with no luck. My question is can this system be reset to factory default? and if so can somebody tell me how? I have the installation manual and am happy to attempt setting the system up from scratch (although I may be back to ask for more help from time to time).
Hi again guys can't set this alarm any more, even overriding alarm faults, so think i might have to replace the alarm board & as I already have PIR's, Door Contacts & keypad, the PIR's & Door contacts incidently are wireless, for this system. Could anyone recommend a board to replace that could be used with the existing hardware. Thanks in advance, Matt.......

Like the previous posters, I've moved into a house which was previously monitored by ADT. I checked my phonebill to see my alarm has been calling ADT for a 7 second chat every morning. It's only 12p per call, but that racks up to £53 a year!

I telephoned ADT and they want to charge me £120 plus VAT to come and disable the call aspect.

I can easily (!) disconnect the alarm, but I actually want an alarm, but don't want the monitoring function (contract cancelled by the previous owner) and don't think I should have to pay £120 plus VAT to stop calling a number that I don't want to call!

Is there a way to resolve this myself? (i.e. can I cut a wire and sort it out, or will that make the system think it's being tampered with and keep my neighbours awake for days?!).

if you cut the phone connection to the panel, the system will go into fault condition!

contact a local non ADT company they should be able to do this for you.

we work in and around the city on a regular basis and we have attended numerous calls to ADT systems in the same predicament as you are!!

ADT want loads of money for not doing a lot!!
id your system under contract, or do you own it outright?

if it is under contract you are stuffed and you will most probably have to pay them 150 plus for the call out.

if you need any info, email me and i will try to help you

Thanks for the speedy reply! The system was installed by the previous owner, and I have no contractual commitment with ADT, so no worries there. Will take a look when I get home from work tonight, and see if I can do it myself - should be quite simple assuming I can isolate the phone line going in.

If it's looking more complicated, I may get back in touch. Cheers
